SOMETIMES
When I walk Molly
Across the wide Nosehill,
I start to wonder —
How does the grass think
About the meaning of life?
Winter comes and goes,
They come and go,
Many leave unnoticed.
Yet still,
They rise and fall
Without hesitation.
Do they wonder if they’ve left something
For the world?
Maybe.
But they never seem to mind.
SOMETIMES
When I walk with my wife,
We can see the Rockies — near, yet far.
Do they care what we are doing?
I doubt it.
They simply stand there quietly,
Even as humans reshape the world.
Why should they care?
They stand regardless — keeping their snow,
Their rain,
Their stillness.
SOMETIMES
When I walk alone on Nosehill,
I begin to miss the friends I’ve lost.
I imagine them as droplets in the clouds,
Or shining leaves among the grass.
They’re just simply there —
Silent, present.
I see the sun.
I see the sky.
And I keep living my way, and trying to be honest,
To have integrity,
To love, and to be loved.
I WALK BY MYSELF
Quietly.
I hear the highway far away —
But I don’t care.
Or should I?
Molly
